Social media

Under “Social media”, the hotel enters the addresses of its profiles on social networks, for example on Instagram or Facebook. The guest area shows these entries as icons under “Follow us on”, and a click on an icon opens the profile in a new tab. The menu item is under Settings › Hotel Configuration › Social media.

Example: Show the Instagram profile in the guest area

A hotel wants guests to find its Instagram profile on the offer page and on the page after the stay.

  1. Open Social media. Open Settings › Hotel Configuration › Social media. The hotel's entries are listed under “Social networks”; if there are none yet, it says “No social media entries exist yet.”

  2. Add the network. Under “Add social network”, select the “Instagram” button. A new entry for Instagram appears under “Social networks”, with “Show on common pages” already ticked.

  3. Enter the address. Enter the address of the Instagram profile in the entry's field. It must start with http:// or https://.

  4. Save. Select “Save”. Only now is the entry saved.

  5. Assign it to the post-stay templates. On the saved entry, select “Assign to all templates”. The entry is then immediately linked, without saving again, to every non-archived post-stay template, that is, the templates for the page after the stay.

  6. Result. The common pages of the guest area, for example the offer page, the pre-stay, the booking and the booking confirmation, show the Instagram icon under “Follow us on”. The page after the stay shows it in the review section. Not every guest area design shows the entries.

The pages in detail

Social media

All entries are created, changed and deleted on this one page. “Save” saves all changes to the entries at once. As long as there are unsaved changes, “Cancel” appears: it removes newly added entries that are not yet saved, and existing entries return to their last saved values, including the assignment to the facility/hotel.

“Add social network”. There is one button per network: “Facebook”, “X”, “Google Plus”, “Pinterest”, “YouTube”, “Instagram”, “Flickr”, “Spotify”, “LinkedIn” and “TikTok”. A click adds a new entry of this network under “Social networks”, with “Show on common pages” ticked. There are no other networks.

“Social networks”. Each entry shows the network with its icon, which cannot be changed, and a field for the address. The address must start with http:// or https://. The order of the entries can be changed by drag and drop.

  • “Show on common pages” determines whether the entry appears on the common pages of the guest area, for example on the offer page, the pre-stay, the booking and the booking confirmation. The page for consent to email marketing also shows all entries with this tick under “Shall we stay in touch anyway?”.

  • “Assign to all templates” immediately links the entry, without “Save”, to every non-archived post-stay template that does not have it yet. In its review section, the page after the stay shows the entries that are linked to its post-stay template.

  • The bin icon deletes the entry. It appears only on saved entries that are not linked to any post-stay template. The entry disappears from the list immediately, but it is only deleted with “Save”. A linked entry shows neither the icon nor “Assign to all templates”.

Several hotels or facilities. With the Multi-Property licence module, each entry gets a selection: a facility/hotel or “Available for all hotels”. Each network may occur once per facility/hotel and once for all hotels. When all these slots are taken, its button under “Add social network” disappears. The common pages of the guest area show the entries for all hotels and the entries of the facility/hotel the page is about. If the same network also has entries for other facilities/hotels, “Assign to all templates” links the entry only to the post-stay templates of its facility/hotel.

The entries do not appear in emails.

Prerequisites

  • ‘Social media’ does not need a licence module of its own. With Multi-Property, the selection of a facility/hotel per entry is added.

  • Access to ‘Social media’ is enabled for specific users through their role. Roles are managed by ReGuest support.

Frequently asked questions

Why does a link not appear on the offer page? “Show on common pages” is not ticked for the entry, or the entry belongs to another facility/hotel. Set the tick or change the facility/hotel and select “Save”. If the page still shows no icon, ReGuest support can tell you whether the guest area design shows the entries.

Why is the bin icon missing on an entry? The entry is not saved yet, or it is linked to a post-stay template. A new entry shows the icon after “Save”. ReGuest support can tell you how to detach an entry from a post-stay template.

Why is a network's button missing under “Add social network”? All slots for this network are taken. With Multi-Property, each network exists once per facility/hotel and once for all hotels. A different address can be entered in the field of the existing entry and saved with “Save”.

Do the links also appear in emails to guests? No, only in the guest area.

Why is the “Social media” menu item missing? Access to ‘Social media’ is enabled for specific users through their role. Roles are managed by ReGuest support. If it is still missing, ReGuest support can tell you whether it is set up for the hotel.
