Unsubscribed addresses

The list “Unsubscribed addresses” shows which guests no longer receive promotional emails because they have unsubscribed. There, a hotel can see when and through which source the unsubscription arrived, and can thus explain why a guest no longer receives a campaign. The menu item is under Sales Campaigns › Unsubscribed addresses.

Example: Check whether and when a guest has unsubscribed

  1. Open Sales Campaigns › Unsubscribed addresses. When opened, the list is pre-filtered to the source “Guest” and the last month.

  2. Under “Source”, select the value “All”. Unsubscriptions from other sources then also appear, for example from an “Import” or via the “PMS interface”.

  3. Under “Period”, select a period longer than the last month.

  4. In the list, look for the row with the “Email address” or the guest's name in the “Guest” column.

  5. In the row, read the “Unsubscribe date” and the “Source”.

The hotel then knows whether the guest has unsubscribed, on which day and through which source. If their row shows “Current status: subscribed”, they have subscribed again since then.

The pages in detail

Unsubscribed addresses

The page lists the unsubscribed guests, showing only the most recent entry per guest. The list is view-only: an entry can neither be changed nor deleted here.

  • “Email address” and “Guest” show which address and which guest it is about.

  • “Unsubscribe date” shows when the unsubscription arrived.

  • “Source” shows where the unsubscription came from, for example “Guest”, “Import” or “PMS interface”.

Two filters narrow down the list:

  • “Source” shows only the unsubscriptions from the selected source. “All” shows the unsubscriptions from every source. The default is “Guest”.

  • “Period” narrows the list down by time. The default is the last month.

“Download” downloads the list as an Excel file. Guests who have subscribed again are missing from the file.

A guest who has subscribed again after their unsubscription stays in the list. Their row then shows “Current status: subscribed”.

Frequently asked questions

Why are unsubscriptions missing from the list? When opened, the list only shows the source “Guest” and the last month. Unsubscriptions from another source, for example from an import or via the PMS interface, appear when “All” or their source is selected under “Source”. Older unsubscriptions appear when a period longer than the last month is selected under “Period”.

How does a guest unsubscribe? After a campaign has been sent, the guest can unsubscribe with one click. In addition, unsubscriptions come from other sources, for example from an import or via the PMS interface. The “Source” column shows which source it was.

Does an unsubscribed guest still receive campaigns? Before every dispatch, unsubscribed recipients are excluded. Only ReGuest can set up a campaign so that it also reaches unsubscribed addresses.

How can an unsubscription be undone? Not in this list. A guest's consent to email marketing is changed on the guest in the guest archive. The guest then stays in the list, with “Current status: subscribed”.

Why does the downloaded file have fewer rows than the list? The file leaves out guests who have subscribed again.

Why does a guest not receive a campaign although they are not in the list? Before every dispatch, besides the unsubscribed ones, recipients who are permanently undeliverable, marked as a spam complaint, not supported or blocked are also excluded. The permanently undeliverable addresses are under “Hard Bounces”; the other three reasons are not in any list. In addition, a new campaign is initially sent only to guests who have explicitly consented to email marketing. The key figure “Contacts” in the “Recipients” tab of a campaign shows before dispatch how many guests are excluded and for which reason. A guest's consent to email marketing is changed on the guest in the guest archive.
