Under “USP”, the hotel collects its selling points, the unique selling propositions, in USP lists. A list belongs to one language and has four slots, each with a title line and a description line. Through an offer template, the selling points appear on the offer page for the guest. The menu item is under Settings › Hotel Configuration › USP.
Example: Define selling points for offers in one language
A hotel wants to show four reasons for a stay in its offers, next to the introductory text.
Open USP. Open Settings › Hotel Configuration › USP. The page shows the hotel's USP lists; if there are none yet, it says “There are no USP entries yet.”
Create a new list. Select “Add”. The “Modify USP list” page opens.
Set the name and language. Under “General information”, enter an “Internal name” of at least 3 characters and, under “Language”, choose the language of the offers the list is intended for.
Enter the first selling point. Under “Unique selling propositions”, enter for the first slot a “Title line” of at least 3 characters and a “Description line” of at least 10 characters. As soon as both are filled in, the next slot appears.
Enter more selling points. Fill in slots 2 to 4 in the same way. The order of the slots can be changed by drag and drop.
Create. Select “Create”. The list is saved.
Assign offer templates. On the saved list, “Associated to the following proposal templates” appears with all non-archived offer templates and their language. Tick each template that is to use this list, and select “Save”. Only then is the assignment saved; “Cancel” discards it.
Result. The list appears under “USP” with its titles. An offer from one of the templates shows the guest up to four boxes next to the introductory text on the offer page.
The pages in detail
USP
The list shows all the hotel's USP lists, sorted by internal name, with their titles. The descriptions are not shown in the list. “Filter by name...” filters by name, the “All languages” selection by language. “Add” creates a new list.
Each list has three buttons:
“Edit” opens the list on “Modify USP list”.
“Duplicate” copies the list after a confirmation prompt: the name with the addition “Copy”, the language and all four slots. The assignment to offer templates is not copied.
“Duplicate and translate” opens the “Duplicate USP” dialog (below).
Modify USP list
A list is created and edited on this page.
“General information”. “Internal name” needs at least 3 characters. “Language” offers the hotel's languages. After saving, the language can no longer be changed.
“Unique selling propositions”. The four slots each have a “Title line” and a “Description line”. The first slot is mandatory, slots 2 to 4 are optional, all with at least 3 characters in the title and 10 in the description. A slot appears only when the previous one has a title and a description. The order can be changed by drag and drop. A slot without a title does not appear for the guest.
“Associated to the following proposal templates”. Appears on a saved list and lists all non-archived offer templates with their language. A tick sets this list on the template. On the offer template itself, the “USP entries” field offers only lists in the template's language. Guests see the selling points on the offer page if the offer's offer template uses the list, and on the guest platform page of a selection action. Not every guest area design shows them.
Buttons. “Create” creates a new list, “Save” saves an existing one. “Delete” deletes the list after a confirmation prompt; the button exists only as long as no offer template uses the list.
Duplicate USP
The dialog creates a copy of the list in another language. The target language is chosen under “Translate to”; “Duplicate” translates all filled-in lines by machine, formally or informally depending on the hotel's setting. If a translation fails, no copy is created.
Prerequisites
‘USP’ does not need a licence module of its own.
Access to ‘USP’ is enabled for specific users through their role. Roles are managed by ReGuest support.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the “USP entries” field of an offer template not offer a USP list? The list has a different language from the template. The “USP entries” field on the template offers only lists in the template's language. “Duplicate and translate” creates a translated copy for the template's language.
Can the language of a list be changed? No, not after saving. “Duplicate and translate” creates a copy in another language.
Why is “Delete” missing on a USP list? An offer template uses the list. As long as this is the case, it cannot be deleted. The ticks under “Associated to the following proposal templates” show which templates these are. Removing the tick and selecting “Save” removes the assignment.
Why does the guest not see the selling points? The offer comes from a template without this list; a tick under “Associated to the following proposal templates” sets the list on the template. Or the guest area design does not show the selling points. ReGuest support can tell you whether the design shows them.
Why is the “USP” menu item missing? Access to ‘USP’ is enabled for specific users through their role. Roles are managed by ReGuest support. If it is still missing, ReGuest support can tell you whether it is set up for the hotel.
